Serie A 14: Pazzini’ Sampdoria stops Milan’s run


In the 14th round of Serie A, Milan held the top spot in the standings despite being held to a tie (1-1) by Sampdoria with Robinho and Pazzini (photo) each scoring for their teams. Milan was able to hold on to its 3 points lead mainly because second-placed Lazio was also held to a tie (1-1) at home by Catania. Behind the top 2, Juventus settled for a tie at home against Fiorentina (1-1) while Napoli lost at Udinese (3-1) with DiNatale scoring all 3 goals. Inter on the contrary moved up the standings easily beating Parma (5-2) with Stankovic scoring 3 goals. Alongside Inter we find Palermo which defeated at home (3-1) a disappointing Roma. In mid-table Cagliari beat Lecce (3-2) while Bologna (which lost a 1 point penalty for financial irregularities) had to postpone its home match against Chievo because of heavy snow.

Serie A 35: Pazzini’ Samp stuns Roma; Inter atop


In the 35th round of Serie A, a dramatic end of season continued to unfold. Inter ahead of the Champions’ semifinals played early and had to win to surpass Roma but trembled against a tenacious Atalanta which found the early lead. Mourinho’s team however led by Milito’s initial goal came back from behind winning (3-1) thus moving into 1st place again in the standings with Roma yet to play. On Sunday night Ranieri’s Roma found the early lead with Totti but was stunned and defeated at home by Sampdoria which won the match (1-2) thanks to Pazzini (photo) who scored 2 goals. The results allow Inter to regain 1st place with a 2 point advantage over Roma with only 3 rounds left to play to the end of the season. Behind the leaders, Third placed Milan continued to crumble losing at Palermo (3-1) which is battling with Sampdoria for 4th place and a spot in next year’s Champions League. In mid-table Juventus defeated Bari (3-0) with Iaquinta scoring twice while Fiorentina crumbled at home losing to Chievo (2-0). In the lower half of the standings, important home wins for Udinese over Siena (4-1), Bologna over Parma (2-1) while Lazio won at Genoa (1-2) in the battle to avoid relegation. With 3 rounds to go however, Serie A standings returned the first verdict with Livorno relegated to Serie B despite its win over Catania (3-1).

Serie A 09: Pazzini’ Sampdoria targets Inter

In the 9th round of Serie A, Inter kepts its lead easily defeating Catania (2-1) but without impressing anyone. Adding to Mourinho’s concerns is a surging Sampdoria which remains in 2nd place with only a 2 points deficit after demolishing struggling Bologna (4-1). Del Neri’s squad was led again by Cassano’s creavity with Pazzini (photo) scoring the first key goals and Mannini scoring two more. Juventus also kept pace narrowly winning at Siena (0-1) thanks to a goal scored by Amauri while a tired Fiorentina surrendered at home to Napoli (0-1) and is now sharing 4th place with both Palermo (which defeated Udinese  1-0) and Milan victorious at Chievo (1-2) thanks to Nesta scoring twice. In other matches important home victories for Atalanta over Parma (3-1), Bari over Lazio (2-0) and Cagliari over Genoa (3-2). More surprisingly Roma crumbled at home losing to Livorno (0-1). Serie A 06: Pazzini’ Sampdoria beats Inter takes lead

In the 6th round of Serie A, Sampdoria defeats Inter (1-0) with a goal scored by Pazzini (photo) leveraging Cassano’s inspiration. With this victory the team managed by DelNeri is now alone atop the standings ahead of Juventus which was held to a tie at home by Bologna (1-1). Inter is now third place alongside Fiorentina victorious at Livorno (1-0) thanks to the young Jovetic’s goal and talents. Behind them we find a surging Udinese which defeated Genoa (2-0) led by another goal scored by Di Natale. In other matches, key wins for Cagliari at Parma (0-2) and Napoli over Siena (2-1) while Milan, Roma and Lazio continue to struggle narrowly settling for a set of tied results. Serie A 04: Cassano leads Sampdoria to top

In the 4th round of Serie A, Juventus easily beat Livorno (2-0) with Iaquinta and Marchisio scoring for the win, and maintains first place in the standings together with amazing Sampdoria led by the talents of its play-maker Cassano (photo). Sampdoria also celebrated its 4th straight win easily defeating Siena (4-1) with Cassano’s assists turning anyone on the team into a scorer (today it was Padalino who scored 2 of the 4 goals). Behind the leaders, Inter struggled quite a bit to keep pace winning narrowly at Cagliari only thanks to luck and Milito’s 2 goals while Genoa crumbled at Chievo (3-1). In other matches, Milan and Parma collected narrow wins at home (both 1-0) against Bologna and Palermo respectively while Bari defeated (4-1) Atalanta and Roma continued its growth under new manager Ranieri defeating Fiorentina (3-1) with Totti scoring twice.
